Job summary

Child Start, Inc. seeks an Early Childhood Assistant to support Head Start 0-5 classrooms in Augusta, KS. You will assist the teacher with records, help with feeding and meals, and ensure a safe, nurturing environment.

The role requires lifting up to 30 pounds, building trusting relationships with families, and aiding in program compliance with CACFP and licensing standards. This position offers stable hours and benefits as part of a dedicated team.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Prefer CDA or an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with students, teachers and parents.

Responsibilities

• Observe arrival children, report unusual signs, and document to EC Manager.
• Assist with preparing classroom materials for activities.
• Support screenings within the first 45 days and scheduled in development areas.
• Assist with feeding infants; hold them during feeding as needed.
• Lead meal setup; supervise meals; assist with cleanup; eat with children.
• Take attendance and complete CACFP paperwork.
• Inventory food and request supplies as needed.
• Complete Summer food services for children.
• Assist with fluoride administration and records.
• Follow CACFP, KDHE licensing standards and Head Start standards.
• Encourage family involvement and help with volunteering.
• Track progress and develop individual plans with parents.
• Support home visits and school conferences.
