Job summary

Child Start in El Dorado, KS is seeking a Classroom Aide to support Head Start 0-5 children in a warm, safe environment. You will assist the teacher with records, meals, attendance, and CACFP paperwork, and help with materials and activities.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and a willingness to pursue CDA or an associate degree in Early Childhood Education. You must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and commute daily to El Dorado.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Willing to pursue CDA or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds for classroom needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher with classroom record-keeping tasks.
• Assist with food service as assigned.
• Support staff during breaks and in the absence of the teacher.
• Observe children and report unusual circumstances.
• Prepare classroom materials for activities.
• Support screenings in developmental, speech and behavior areas.
• Assist with attendance and CACFP paperwork.
• Inventories food and request supplies as needed.
• Complete Summer food services for children.
• Assist with fluoride administration and records for children.
• Follow CACFP, KDHE licensing standards and Head Start Performance Standards.
• Support family involvement and volunteering.
• Support progress updates and individual plans for children.
• Support home visits and school conferences.
