Job summary

STEP, Inc. is seeking a Classroom Aide for its Head Start program in Williamsport. You will assist teachers in daily activities, support safety and engagement, and help children learn and grow in a nurturing environment.

This position offers a 182-day school calendar (Summers off) with a part-time schedule from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The pay rate is $15.19 per hour, and candidates should be dependable and enthusiastic about early childhood development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to work effectively with young children.
• Ability to follow directions, maintain confidentiality, and work as part of a team.
• Basic technology skills, including email and online trainings.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with educational activities and classroom routines.
• Supporting child safety at all times, both inside and outside the classroom.
• Encouraging positive behavior and social interactions.
• Assisting with activities such as handwashing, toothbrushing, toileting, and meal times.
• Helping prepare learning materials and classroom resources.
• Building positive relationships with children, families, staff, and volunteers.
• Participating in meetings, trainings, and educational field trips.
• Completing required documentation accurately and on time.
• Depending on assignment, may accompany children on a bus and assist with safety procedures during transportation.

What You'll Do

Note: Schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Position follows a 182-day school calendar schedule. (Summers off!)

Physical Requirements

This position is active and involves engaging directly with children throughout the day. Candidates must be able to:

• Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods
• Lift and carry up to 30 pounds
• Bend, kneel, squat, reach, and climb stairs
• Actively participate in children's indoor and outdoor play
• Respond quickly to ensure child safety
