Job summary

GCCSA seeks an HS Teacher Aide to support Head Start classrooms in Houston, ensuring developmentally appropriate activities and adherence to Head Start standards. The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers, parent engagement, and documentation to support child progress.

The position requires a HS diploma or GED, and a CDA within 24 months. Physical duties include lifting up to 50 pounds and occasional travel within the program area.

Qualifications

• Must have HS Diploma or GED and obtain a CDA within 24 months of hire.
• Six (6) months in a similar position working with preschool children and able to supervise 15-20 kids.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to interact with all levels of staff.
• Ability to read and comprehend intermediate to complex instructions.
• Familiarity with Head Start Performance Standards and Texas childcare standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement high-quality early education and child development services.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to meet regulatory requirements for Head Start classrooms.
• Maintain documentation: home visits, parent conferences, assessments, and notes.
• Uphold GCCSA standards, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
