Job summary

LIFT Community Action Agency, Inc. seeks a Head Start Teacher to manage the total operation of the Head Start Center, plan activities, and involve staff and parents in execution.

The Teacher will supervise and mentor Teacher Aides, ensure policy adherence, develop staff training plans, and collaborate on curriculum that supports literacy, math, language, social-emotional development, and family partnership.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education is required.
• First Aid and Infant/Toddler CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
• Criminal background check clearance required prior to hire and during employment as required by state licensing.
• Must understand low-income families and the role of parents as primary educators of children.
• Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license and auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision and guidance of classroom staff and volunteers.
• Ensure policy and procedures are properly applied and interpreted by classroom teachers.
• Develop and monitor individual staff training plans; assess training needs and plan in-service training.
• Observe and evaluate classroom effectiveness; evaluate Teacher Assistants.
• Participate in curriculum development and meet with teachers on lesson plans and classroom management.
• Plan and provide a comprehensive program including Head Start curriculum and standards.
• Collaborate with staff to meet individual children's needs; foster family involvement.
• Conduct home visits and parent/teacher conferences as scheduled.
• Engage parents to participate in workshops and Head Start activities.
• Maintain accurate attendance, meals and reports; keep records confidential.
