Job summary

Nisqually Indian Tribe in Olympia, Washington, seeks a School Bus Driver to safely operate buses on fixed routes, transporting children and/or adults on schedule and in compliance with federal, state, and tribal guidelines. Responsibilities include pre/post-trip inspections, enforcing safety procedures, maintaining records, and ensuring proper loading and custody of students.

A CDL with school bus endorsement, clean driving record, and background check are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• First Aid and CPR cards within 30 days of employment.
• CDL with school bus endorsement required.
• Clean driving record and valid Washington State Driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections as directed under Federal, State and Tribal guidelines.
• Ensure children who receive services are taught safe riding practices and crossing procedures.
• Confirm daily schedule with coordinator and adjust routes for safety or changes.
• Fuel vehicle as needed and ensure adequate fuel for routes.
• Drive buses on schedule and in compliance with traffic laws.
• Maintain safe loading/unloading procedures and orderly seating.
• Complete and submit bus and time reports as required.
• Attend safety and in-service trainings and keep bus clean and accessible.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Commercial driver's license (CDL) with school bus endorsement
