Job summary

Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County, Inc. is looking for a Bus Driver for the Head Start and Migrant and Seasonal programs in Santa Maria, California. You will ensure safe transportation of children and maintain the bus in operational condition.

The position mandates a valid California Commercial Driver’s License and completion of pediatric CPR and first aid training within 30 days of employment. Strong communication skills and a focus on safety are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid California Commercial Driver's License with appropriate endorsements.
• Certificates for pediatric first aid and CPR training are required within 30 days of hire.
• Good driving record demonstrated by a DMV printout.

This position may be eligible for an internal referral bonus and/or hiring bonus.

Responsible for safe transportation of Head Start and Migrant and Seasonal Head Start children. Must submit timely reports and be responsible for bus maintenance and regular safety checks. Supports CAPSLO’s mission by ensuring safe transportation for Head Start, Early Head Start, and Migrant & Season Head Start participants.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Valid California Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B with Endorsements P & S).
• DL-45 Special Certificate (Type I or Type II).
• TO1 Card.
• Current DMV printout (original H-6 form) with a good driving record.
• Medical Examiner Certificate DL51A form.
• Certificates of completion for pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR training (within 30 days of hire).

As a Bus Driver you will:

• Pick up and deliver children as scheduled.
• Complete and submit daily sign-in/sign-out sheets and roster sheets.
• Submit timely reports, including children's attendance, mileage, accident reports, and fuel receipts.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring all safety measures are in place.
• Maintain the bus in safe, operable condition at all times.
• Operate the bus in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
• Support CAPSLO's mission by ensuring safe transportation for all participants.
