Job summary

Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) is seeking a Head Start Assistant Teacher to support the classroom under the teacher's guidance. The role is a full-time, 30-hour work week with a schedule Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, and a starting wage between $17.24 and $19.81 per hour depending on education and experience.

New hires without the CDA will start at $17.24 per hour and are expected to obtain their CDA within the first year; subsequent pay increases to $19.81 per

Qualifications

• AA in Early Childhood Education.
• Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma (or equivalent) and three (3) months of experience working in a childcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Teacher in planning, implementing, and maintaining a nurturing educational program for participating children.
• Lead Head Start staff at times during the day when the teacher is not present in the classroom.
• Support classroom activities and supervise children as directed.
