Job summary

HACAP seeks a Head Start Assistant Teacher in Cedar Rapids, IA, to assist in planning and delivering a nurturing early childhood education program. Work 32 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm, with a focus on school-year activities and supporting children and families within Head Start.

Starting pay is $17.24/hour for those without CDA; CDA attainment within the first year increases pay to $19.81/hour.

Qualifications

• Target Qualifications: AA in Early Childhood Education.
• Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma (or equivalent) and three (3) months of experience working in a childcare setting.

Responsibilities

• The Head Start Assistant Teacher supports the Teacher in planning, implementing, and maintaining a nurturing and supportive educational program for participating children.
• The Assistant Teacher is the designated lead Head Start staff person at times during the day when the teacher is not present in the classroom.
