Job summary

Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, Inc. (HACAP) is hiring an Early Head Start Assistant Teacher to support a nurturing classroom and assist the Head Start Teacher, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–4:00 pm.

The role includes progressing CDA certification within the first year and a starting wage of $17.24 per hour, rising to $19.81 after CDA attainment. The position is full-time with comprehensive benefits, vision, retirement options, and a strong commitment to equity and community service.

Qualifications

• AA in Early Childhood Education.
• High School Diploma and three months in a child care setting.
• Must obtain CDA within first year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Support the Teacher in planning and implementing a nurturing educational program.
• Lead Head Start staff when the teacher is not present in the classroom.
• Contribute to maintaining a supportive learning environment for participating children.
