Job summary

Macon Program for Progress is seeking a Head Start / Early Head Start Classroom Assistant to support the Lead Teacher and Teacher in delivering developmentally appropriate learning experiences for children in a Head Start setting.

You will assist with daily activities, follow lesson plans, ensure safety, and engage families while working on-site in Franklin, NC. A strong commitment to early education and inclusive practices is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification required within first 6 weeks of hire.
• Twenty hours in-service training required in Early Childcare Education topics.
• Two years' experience working with children preferred.
• CDL required or willingness and ability to obtain.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, sort correspondence and memos.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the teaching staff in assigned classrooms.
• Follow the daily lesson plan for assigned classroom.
• Apply Early Childhood Development theory to daily activities and adapt to children's needs.
• Maintain child safety following indoor and outdoor rules.
• Relate to children in a calm, caring, nurturing manner with age-appropriate guidance.
• Attend job training and work well with families and others.

**Head Start / Early Head Start Classroom Assistant**

Full time, Monday - Friday 9:30 am - 5:30 pm

Position Overview

Responsible for working with the Lead Teacher and Teacher in assigned classrooms to deliver high quality early education and child development services by providing developmentally, culturally and linguistically appropriate learning experiences, routines and activities of a Head Start classroom/center in accordance with the policies, procedures, and philosophy of Macon Program for Progress Board, Policy Council, NCDCDEE, and Administration for Children and Families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, required
• Twenty hours in-service training required in Early Childcare Education topics.
• Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification, required within the first 6 weeks of hired date.
