Job summary

Benchmark Space Systems is seeking a Lead Spacecraft Systems Engineer to build and lead our new Spacecraft Systems Engineering function. You will define approaches for spacecraft-level integration and own system analysis, trades, and documentation across vehicle programs.

The role offers onsite options in Burlington, VT or Pleasanton, CA, or remote work for candidates located in the Boulder, CO area. You will mentor a growing team as programs scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or a closely related field; or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Establish spacecraft systems engineering practices, artifacts, and review expectations.
• Own system-level trades, requirements tracking, verification planning, interface documentation, and budgets across programs.
• Define acceptance criteria on vendor data and verification credits.
• Evaluate COTS components against requirements and environments.
• Build and mentor a systems engineering team as programs grow.
• Maintain Benchmark’s reputation for honesty, integrity, accountability, and transparency.
