Job summary

Bishop Alemany High School in Mission Hills seeks a Head Softball Coach to lead the program under the supervision of the Athletic Director, aligning with the school’s mission and fostering growth in student-athletes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience as a varsity softball coach preferred.
• Strong foundation in coaching techniques and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and the ability to excel in softball.
• Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student-athletes in softball.
• Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
• Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes.
• Ensure that all softball coaches work together toward a common goal within the softball program and provide unity with a structured feeder system.
• Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students’ athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.
• Take all necessary precautions to protect student-athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extra-curricular participation.
• Work with the Athletic Director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements.
• Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of coaching program, including changes based on findings and ongoing needs of the program.

Description of Position & Primary Duties:

The Head Softball Coach will work under the supervision of the Athletic Director in accordance with Bishop Alemany High School’s mission. The Head Softball Coach must realize and appreciate the need for the softball program to work with other sports as a complement to the entire athletic department.

• A teaching position may be available in conjunction with this coaching assignment, contingent upon the needs of the school.

The selected candidate must pass an employment background check and all required training and certifications. Compensation for this position is based on policy and budget. We consider a number of factors including, but not limited to, skills set, experience, training and department needs.

Wage Range

The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
