Job summary

Apple Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA, seeks a technically grounded Engineering Manager to lead a team of quality engineers focused on test automation across hardware, firmware, and software. You will decide what gets tested, guide test architectures, and translate results into evidence-based recommendations on product readiness.

You’ll work closely with hardware, firmware, and software teams to set test strategy, steer exit criteria, and ensure successful launches across shipping and exploratory programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent.
• 8+ years in quality, test, or software engineering with 2+ years in people leadership.
• Experience designing test automation frameworks or infrastructure.
• Experience setting test strategy for embedded firmware or system software.
• Ability to review code/designs in Python and Swift/Obj-C/C++.

Responsibilities

• Own a portfolio spanning test automation, firmware automation, and manual end-to-end testing of integrated software/hardware.
• Set direction for test frameworks and infrastructure.
• Lead architecture reviews and mentor engineers on code/test designs.
• Partner with hardware/firmware/software teams to define strategy and exit criteria.
• Lead validation of shipping and exploratory hardware programs from prototype to launch.
• Hire, manage, and develop the team and plan staffing across programs.
• Define and track quality metrics and report risks and ship readiness to leadership.
