Job summary

Dwihn in Detroit seeks a Director of Communications and Strategic Outreach to provide strategic leadership over internal and external communications, public relations, strategic outreach, stakeholder engagement, executive communications, events, and member engagement.

The Director collaborates with the CEO and executive leadership to shape messaging, oversee budgets, and ensure consistent branding while advancing the organization’s mission within Michigan’s behavioral health landscape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Public Administration, Business Administration, or closely related field.
• Master's degree in related field preferred.
• Seven years of progressive professional experience in communications, public relations, public affairs, community engagement, or related field, including at least three years of supervisory experience.
• Behavioral health experience preferred; healthcare/government/nonprofit/public service experience also preferred.
• Michigan driver's license with safe driving record is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and day-to-day management of the Communications and Strategic Outreach Department.
• Develop and evaluate departmental goals, priorities, policies, procedures, and comprehensive operations plans.
• Supervise assigned management, professional, and administrative personnel and performance management.
• Develop and administer departmental budgets and monitor expenditures.
• Oversee internal and external communications, media relations, and branding.
• Coordinate executive communications and engagements with the CEO and leadership.
• Oversee stakeholder engagement, community outreach, and member engagement initiatives.
