Job summary

Portal Space Systems is seeking a Head of Electrical & Avionics Engineering from its Bothell, WA headquarters. This leader will own electrical architecture, power generation and distribution, RF/communications hardware, sensors, actuators, and EMI/EMC technical ownership to scale spacecraft programs.

You will collaborate with Systems Engineering, Software/GNC/Autonomy, and Vehicle Design to ensure requirements traceability from design to launch.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a relevant engineering field.
• Proven experience leading electrical/avionics hardware for complex aerospace systems.
• Experience with electrical architecture, power distribution, RF/communications, sensors, actuators, and harnessing.

Responsibilities

• Own spacecraft electrical and avionics architecture across programs.
• Lead power generation, distribution, and energy storage interfaces.
• Own board-level design, RF interfaces, harnessing, and hardware integration.
• Define interfaces, standards, and verification plans with cross‑functional teams.
• Build and mentor the Electrical & Avionics team and oversee hardware readiness for vehicle integration.
