Canoe Intelligence in New York City (hybrid) is seeking an experienced engineering leader to build and lead the Quality and Reliability organization. You will establish SRE practices, ownership of incident management, and partner with architects to improve observability, reliability, and performance as we scale.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in software engineering, 4 years leading quality or platform teams, and a proven ability to drive automation-first testing, AI-assisted verification,

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 4+ years leading quality, reliability, or platform engineering teams.
• Experience owning incident management for a company or major platform.
• Deep quality engineering background with distributed or offshore QA teams.
• Experience applying AI/LLMs to testing and verification.
• Fluency with metrics like escape rate, MTTR/MTTD, and SLO attainment.

Responsibilities

• Build Site Reliability Engineering practice with SLOs, error budgets, observability, and on-call design.
• Own incident management end-to-end, including tooling and post-incident retrospectives.
• Lead Quality Engineering and develop in-house leadership and expertise.
• Define a risk-based quality strategy and shift to automation-first testing.
• Define and report executive KPIs for quality and reliability.
