Position Purpose
The Head of School works under the supervision of the Chief Executive Administrator and is responsible for all school operations, staff, finances, academic programs, student discipline, and student activities.
Job Duties
- Upholds CECs beliefs found on the CEC website.
- Employs CECs mission statement in all decisions.
- Ensures schools compliance with all CEC policies and procedures, Colorado Charter School Institute (CSI) middle school state standards, and state and federal laws.
- Maintains positive and collaborative relationships with the CSI, CEC Network leadership, and schools leadership team.
- Develops the schools annual budget by establishing funding priorities in alignment with CECs mission. Manages all spending and related budgeting activities to align with the schools board approved budget.
- Develops and updates the schools Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) by utilizing student achievement data, and works in partnership with parents, staff and community members to successfully achieve UIP goals.
- Clearly communicates expectations to all staff and provides leadership that fosters staff professional growth and collaboration, and equitably delegates staff responsibilities and assignments. Resolves conflicts and obstacles for staff by utilizing CEC policies, processes, and procedures.
- Promotes a school culture that establishes and implements clear, respectful, and equitable expectations for student and staff behavior and discipline.
- Effectively leads the schools Leadership Team by hosting regular Leadership Team meetings and mentoring/supporting all staff.
- Partners with HR and school leadership to hire, evaluate, and terminate staff.
- Works in partnership with Marketing to develop a student recruitment and retention plan to support enrollment goals.
- Fosters feedback and collaboration with parent/guardian and community partners through the School Accountability Committee and by communicating effectively with students, staff, parents, and community groups to promote and achieve school goals.
- Attends all CEC School Leaders meetings, CSI School Leader Gatherings, and all other events as requested by the Chief Executive Administrator. Participates in safety and security trainings as required.
- Represents CEC at community functions to promote, develop, and grow community partnerships.
Conditions of Employment
- All offers of employment are conditional upon a successful background check and references.
- As required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), the selected applicant must verify, within 72 hours of employment, his/her legal right to be employed in the United States.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field required; Masters degree in Education or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a middle school principal or other position substantially like the CEC Head of School position or has a minimum 3 years of experience within Colorado Early Colleges Network of Schools.
- In depth knowledge and understanding of high school readiness and Early College high school standards preferred.
