Flik Independent School Dining is seeking a Director of Dining Services for Menlo School in Atherton, CA. You will lead all dining operations, oversee budgeting and financial performance, manage a talented team, and build strong relationships with school partners to deliver outstanding service for students, faculty, and guests.

The role emphasizes strategic, hands-on leadership, menu program development, and a commitment to safety and quality in a high-volume school dining environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Business, or related field.
• 3–5 years of dynamic food service management experience, preferably in school dining, contract services, or high-volume hospitality.
• Experience leading budgets, financial reporting, and cost controls.
• Background in catering, special events, and high-volume food production.
• Ability to lead and develop teams, meet deadlines, and drive initiatives.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction for all food service operations, including student dining, catering, and special events.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, school administrators, students, and guests, ensuring exceptional service.
• Collaborate with the Executive Chef to design seasonal menus and programs.
• Lead financial aspects: budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, daily sales reporting, and period-end closing.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and allergen protocols; promote safety culture.
• Conduct pre-service meetings to align the team on expectations and standards.
• Lead recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, training, and performance reviews for dining associates.
• Drive participation and customer engagement through marketing, menu innovation, and catering showcases.
• Maintain high standards of service, cleanliness, and presentation across dining areas.
