Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services is seeking a Risk Management Specialist IV (Director of Risk Management) for the Austin State Hospital campus. You will develop and oversee a comprehensive risk management, safety, and emergency preparedness program, coordinating inspections, trainings, and corrective actions.

You will supervise staff, conduct performance reviews, and lead disaster readiness activities while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and Joint Commission standards.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in business management, public administration, risk management, insurance or occupational safety.
• Associate degree with 48+ months of relevant experience or six years of experience with no degree may be considered.
• Strong knowledge of risk management, safety and emergency preparedness standards.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and evaluates a multi-faceted risk management program for a State Hospital.
• Directs environmental and safety inspections and coordinates corrective actions.
• Leads emergency drills, training, and disaster preparedness programs for staff.
• Oversees security surveillance, incident reporting, and risk mitigation activities.
• Supervises department staff and conducts performance evaluations; coordinates plans of correction.
