Job summary

Talisman, a growing energy trading firm in the United States, is seeking a Head of Risk to lead the day-to-day risk function across its trading book, owning market and credit risk oversight. This hands-on leadership role partners with traders, champions risk controls, and drives automated reporting using Python and SQL.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in energy/commodity risk and a track record of influencing senior management.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of risk experience in energy or commodity trading.
• Experience as Head of Risk, Risk Manager, or senior risk leader.
• Strong VaR, stress testing, and basis risk expertise.
• Hands-on with ETRM/CTRM systems and risk reporting.

Responsibilities

• Run the daily risk process end to end across the trading book.
• Challenge traders on positioning, hedging, and new products.
• Oversee counterparty credit risk, exposure monitoring, and collateral terms.
• Improve and automate risk reporting with Python and SQL.
• Communicate risk findings to senior management and escalate issues.
