Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Director of Responsible AI to lead governance across the enterprise, shaping how AI is developed, deployed, and monitored in line with our values and regulatory obligations.

You will partner with business leaders, data scientists, engineers, Legal, Compliance, and Risk Management to enable innovative AI solutions that deliver measurable business value while maintaining strong governance and risk controls.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in quantitative science, statistics, data science, AI/ML development, actuarial science, or related discipline.
• 2+ years of experience developing, deploying, or governing Generative AI solutions.
• 1+ years of experience providing consultation, training, teaching, coaching, or advisory services.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to business, risk, and executive stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML technologies, Responsible AI principles, and governance challenges.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate governance reviews of AI and Generative AI use cases to identify and communicate AI risks.
• Review AI risk assessments, fairness testing results, model evaluations, monitoring outcomes, and control evidence.
• Support development and enhancement of governance frameworks, standards, and procedures for scalable AI oversight.
