Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Director of Responsible AI Governance to lead enterprise-wide AI governance, risk assessment, and oversight across AI lifecycle stages. You will partner with data scientists, engineers, Legal, Compliance, and Risk Management to ensure responsible AI deployment aligned with regulatory obligations.

This role emphasizes governance framework development, stakeholder consultation, and practical controls for emerging AI capabilities within a major insurance organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in quantitative science, statistics, data science, AI/ML development, actuarial science or related discipline.
• 2+ years developing, deploying, or governing Generative AI solutions.
• 1+ years providing consultation, training, or advisory services to business or risk stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead Responsible AI governance reviews for AI and Generative AI use cases.
• Interpret risk assessments, fairness testing results, model evaluations, monitoring outcomes.
• Develop and refine governance frameworks, standards, and procedures for AI oversight.
