What's the Role?

As the Head of Research & Development (R&D) - CDM, you will work with an exceptional team playing a vital role in R&D CDM.

Responsibilities:

1. Business Sector Development Strategy:

• Implement product roadmaps for the business sector workflows successfully.
• Set development strategies aligned with BS workflow and product roadmap, balancing priorities between workflow-based and specific product features.
• Align development strategies with Advanced R&D and the DBU development roadmap to foster innovation and meet interface needs.
• Improve interfaces and processes with internal departments (PM, R&D, marketing, sales, support, Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Management) and external partners.

Global R&D Workflow and Program Management:

• Manage execution of R&D roadmaps within time and budget, from feasibility to market introduction.
• Monitor progress and execution of development projects.
• Develop workforce, make-or-buy, and competence strategies in line with global networks.

Network Building:

• Maintain and expand relationships with key customers, involving them early in development to ensure customer-centric outputs.
• Develop strategic concepts for the area, aligned with company goals.

Leadership and People Management:

• Develop the R&D organization into a high-performing system, coaching and trusting employees per ZEISS Leadership Principles.
• Drive performance through goal setting, teamwork, delegation, open communication, customer focus, and a winning mentality.

Qualifications:

• University degree in natural sciences or engineering; MBA preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience, including management, commercial knowledge, and planning.
• Strong leadership, customer orientation, and network management skills.
• Proficient in project management and global service management.
• Contract drafting expertise.
• Intercultural negotiation skills.
• Fluent in English.

Compensation & Benefits:

Annual pay range: $219,700 - $274,600, influenced by location, role scope, qualifications, and experience. Role includes performance bonus, medical plans, retirement savings, and paid time off.
