Department

Research Data Collection

Location

Oklahoma City, OK (On-Site)

About Us

The Blacks Alchemy And Science Academy (BASA), operating in partnership with Danks Farm Corporation, is an innovative educational platform and research facility based in Oklahoma City. We are dedicated to providing essential resources, education, and open-source agricultural research to uplift the community. We are currently documenting a massive, multi-year botanical breeding project focused on exotic, highly resilient, and open-source genetics.

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Part-Time Photographer & Videographer to join our Research Data Collection department. You will be responsible for documenting our “seed-to-harvest” pheno-hunts in a visually clean, episodic, and educational documentary style. You will work directly inside our advanced cultivation environments to capture macro-level botanical data and high-quality vlog-style chapters for our digital platforms (Patreon, Instagram, etc.).

Key Responsibilities
  • Macro Documentation: Capture extreme close-up, high-resolution photos of plant anatomy, specifically focusing on capitate-stalked trichome development, swelling bracts, and seed maturation (tiger-striping).
  • Episodic Video Production: Shoot stable, high-quality video chapters documenting the cultivation process, breeding techniques, and facility updates.
  • Lighting Adaptation: Successfully navigate and custom white-balance camera equipment under intense, full-spectrum LED grow lights to ensure natural, crisp, and accurate color representation.
  • Data Logging Integration: Work closely with the lead breeder to ensure all visual assets are properly labeled and synced with our digital genetic tracking spreadsheets.
Requirements & Essential Skills
  • Workplace Culture: Must be strictly 420-friendly and completely comfortable working long hours inside an active, legal cannabis cultivation environment.
  • Equipment Mastery: Must possess or have access to professional-grade camera equipment with dedicated macro lenses and video stabilization (gimbals/tripods).
  • Bio-Security Compliance: Must be willing to adhere strictly to our facility’s sanitation and bio-security protocols (e.g., wearing clean facility clothing, utilizing footbaths, and preventing cross-contamination).
  • Discretion & Privacy: A high level of professionalism and respect for operational privacy is strictly required.
  • Mission Alignment: A strong understanding of, and respect for, our core mission to keep agricultural genetics open-source and freely available to community farmers without corporate utility patents.
  • Bonus: Previous experience with botanical, agricultural, or cannabis macro-photography is highly preferred but not required if you have a strong macro portfolio.
What We Offer
  • Health care benefits.
  • A $50 Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA).
  • Complimentary on-site meals provided during your shifts.
  • Flexible, part-time scheduling based around the plant’s natural growth cycles.
  • The opportunity to be on the ground floor of a heavily documented, open-source agricultural movement.
