Job summary

The Atlanta University Center (AUC) Robert W. Woodruff Library is seeking an organized and proactive Head of Public Services to lead the public services team and oversee user experience strategy as well as the implementation of innovative technology resources and planning.

The role requires steering the Public Services team, developing customer service models, supervising professional staff, and collaborating with academic engagement to support teaching, research, and student success in a

Qualifications

• MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution or related advanced degree.
• 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in academic libraries.
• Experience leading public services operations and user-centered initiatives.
• Experience supervising professional staff and managing teams.
• Experience developing customer service models or user experience strategies.
• Experience managing technology-rich learning environments or digital labs.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and strategic direction for the User Experience Team and public services points.
• Oversee management, operation, and development of Technology Design Studio and AV labs.
• Implement staffing models, workflows, and service standards aligned with user needs.
• Collaborate to align public services with broader academic engagement strategies.
• Implement customer service frameworks promoting consistency, accessibility, and inclusion.
• Manage public technology resources including computers, software, studios, and 3D printers.
