Job summary

Van Buren Township seeks a Director of Program Development & Marketing to lead programming for the Van Buren Community Center and parks, shaping strategic vision and growing enrollment. You will oversee staff, hire instructors, and coordinate with the CS Operations Director to deliver top-tier recreational services.

You will drive marketing initiatives, develop communications, and manage budgets while collaborating with schools and community groups to boost participation and awareness of events

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, digital media or related field with 3+ years in marketing/communications.
• Experience developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies.
• Experience managing social media platforms and digital communications.
• Experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
• Experience with CMS and digital engagement platforms.
• Experience with photography, video production, graphic design and digital content creation.
• Must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
• First Aid/CPR certification within 12 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Develop fitness, health, wellness and sporting programming for the VBC and deliver premier programming activities.
• Serve as the primary marketing resource for leisure activities at Van Buren Community Center, parks and facilities.
• Engage with community groups and Van Buren Public Schools to build participation.
• Design programs aligned with current recreational trends.
• Develop communications strategies and promotional materials for programs and events.
• Hire, supervise and discipline full/part-time staff; manage contractors.
• Prepare and monitor the annual department budget with the CS Operations Director.
