Job summary

United Airlines is seeking a Manager of Predictive Maintenance Engineering (Engines and APUs) to lead a team of engineers focused on developing and implementing predictive health monitoring solutions. The goal is to improve operational reliability for engines and APUs across the fleet.

The role requires guiding analysis, coordinating with data science and tech teams, and driving reliable alerting. Located in Chicago with a hybrid work schedule, travel 10–20% is expected, and sponsorship is not

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a business, engineering or data driven role.
  • 2 years' experience in leadership/supervisory role or leading a matrixed project team.
  • Working knowledge of Boeing and Airbus aircraft and engines.
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance and reliability concepts and implementations.
  • Proven project management and ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel 10-20% and work in a hybrid schedule at CSC-Willis Tower, Chicago.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team delivering health monitoring and predictive maintenance use cases for the fleet.
  • Collaborate with Data Science and Digital Technology teams to deploy use cases.
  • Develop and maintain a queue of predictive opportunities aligned with Tech Ops strategy.
  • Provide ongoing reporting of alert performance and update logic as needed.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to drive operational integration of alerting.
