Job summary

Summit Utilities is seeking a Director of Pipeline Safety & Asset Risk to provide strategic leadership across pipeline safety, integrity management, asset risk, and regulatory compliance for its multi-state operations. Reporting to the VP of Operations Support, this role partners with executive leadership to strengthen safety performance and support risk-informed investments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Risk Management, Safety, Regulatory Compliance, Business Administration, Construction Management, or related field.
• 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in natural gas utility operations, pipeline safety, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams or programs.
• Experience leading pipeline integrity, asset-risk, regulatory compliance, or audit-readiness initiatives.
• Experience with cross-functional initiatives in a regulated utility environment.
• Experience working with federal or state pipeline safety regulators and audits.

Responsibilities

• Provide enterprise leadership for pipeline safety, integrity management, and asset-risk strategy.
• Oversee DIMP, TIMP, MAOP compliance, corrosion control, leak detection, damage prevention, and public awareness programs.
• Advance Pipeline Safety Management System and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strengthen regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and relationships with PHMSA and state regulators.
• Establish governance, performance measures, and risk-informed practices for operations and capital decisions.
• Monitor regulatory developments and provide executive reporting and recommendations.
• Develop and lead high-performing teams responsible for pipeline safety, integrity, governance, and compliance.
