Job summary

Conservancy of Southwest Florida is seeking a Director of Human Resources to provide strategic leadership for the organization’s people strategy, attracting, developing, engaging, and retaining a high-performing workforce aligned with its mission of conservation, science, wildlife rehabilitation, education, and advocacy.

The Director oversees all HR functions (excluding payroll) and partners with Finance to align workforce planning with resources, serving as a trusted advisor to executives,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, business, organizational leadership, or related field required; Master's preferred.
• 8–10 years of progressively responsible HR leadership experience.
• Minimum of 5 years leading an HR function and supervising staff.
• Experience supporting complex, multidisciplinary organizations.
• Experience leading organizational change, workforce planning, and talent management.
• Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
• Non-profit experience preferred.
• SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification.
• Proficiency with information systems, Microsoft Office, and AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for HR programs that support growth and operational excellence.
• Develop and implement HR strategy aligned with the strategic plan.
• Serve as a senior leadership team member advising on workforce matters.
• Lead workforce planning and succession planning initiatives.
• Develop HR policies and governance frameworks for compliance.
• Monitor HR metrics to support data-informed decisions.
• Lead organizational change initiatives and workforce transitions.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and engagement.
• Oversee recruitment strategy and selection processes.
• Partner with Finance on salary budgeting and benefits strategy.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws and HR best practices.
• Oversee HR technology and reporting initiatives.
• Represent HR in cross-functional initiatives and quarterly All Staff Meetings.
