Production and Fabrication
- Own the shop schedule: sequence cutting and bending by job priority, release dates and truck loads
- Hit daily and weekly tonnage targets while holding misfabrication and rework to a minimum
- Enforce ACI/CRSI bending tolerances, tagging and bar-list accuracy before material leaves the shop
- Coordinate with estimating and detailing (in-house and outsourced) so placing drawings and bar lists are released on time
Delivery and Logistics
- Plan daily deliveries and truck loading to meet contractor pour schedules
- Manage drivers, yard layout and equipment so loads are staged, correct and on time
- Track on-time delivery and resolve short-ships, back orders and field shortages same day
Inventory and Purchasing
- Maintain accurate raw-steel and accessory inventory by size and grade; run regular cycle counts
- Work with the President on mill and supplier purchasing to balance price, lead time and cash
- Reduce scrap and drops; track yield by job
People and Safety
- Lead, hire, train and schedule the shop, yard and field crew; build a bench for a future number-two
- Own the safety program: OSHA compliance, crane and forklift certification, PPE, incident reporting and toolbox talks
- Set clear expectations and hold the team accountable on attendance, quality and productivity
Equipment and Facility
- Keep shears, benders, cranes, forklifts and trucks running with a preventive-maintenance schedule
- Recommend and source equipment upgrades and capital purchases with a cost/payback case
- Keep the facility clean, organized and compliant with lease and permit requirements
Customers and Field Support
- Be the operations point of contact for contractors on schedule changes, field issues and change orders
- Support onsite services and project management on active jobs
- Capture change orders and extra work so it gets billed
Reporting and Continuous Improvement
- Report weekly to the President on tonnage, labor hours per ton, on-time delivery, rework, safety and inventory
- Feed actual job costs back to estimating so quotes reflect real productivity
- Standardize shop processes and put simple tracking tools in place as the company grows
Qualifications
Required
- 7+ years in rebar fabrication, steel fabrication, or a comparable construction-materials operation, with 3+ years leading a shop or crew
- Working knowledge of rebar sizes, grades, standard bends, CRSI weight tables and reading placing drawings and bar lists
- Track record of running a production schedule and hitting tonnage and delivery targets
- Hands-on leader who is on the floor daily and earns respect from a blue-collar crew
- Strong safety record; OSHA 30 or willingness to obtain within 90 days
- Comfortable with basic metrics, Excel and job tracking tools
- Valid driver's license
Preferred
- Experience with aSa or similar rebar estimating/production software
- Field ironworker or placing background, or familiarity with Ironworkers union jobs
- Forklift and overhead crane certification; CDL a plus
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Experience in a growing or owner-led company, including standing up new processes
What Success Looks Like
First 90 days: Learn every job in the shop, the schedule and the customer base; set a baseline on tonnage, labor hours per ton, on-time delivery and rework; fix the top three bottlenecks.
First year: On-time delivery at 95%+, measurable drop in labor hours per ton and misfabrications, a working preventive-maintenance and safety program, and a trained crew lead who can run the shop in your absence.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive base salary plus performance bonus tied to productivity, delivery and safety
- Health benefits and paid time off
- Room to grow with the company as CCR expands
