Job summary

NC State College of Engineering is seeking a visionary Director of Engineering Online Programs to lead the strategic development and administration of online graduate engineering degrees and certificates. You will oversee instructional design, program delivery, and collaboration with DELTA and COE departments to maintain world-class online programs.

The role requires a proven track record in leadership, budget oversight, and building cross-functional partnerships across campus.

Qualifications

• Earned Masters Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Engineering Education, or a related discipline.
• 5–7 years of leadership experience in distance education, online program management, or instructional design in a higher education setting.
• Proven track record of managing professional staff and operational budgets.

Responsibilities

• Pedagogical Leadership: establish, promote, and evaluate best practices for online course delivery across all COE online programs.
• Faculty Support & Development: guide faculty in designing and refreshing online courses using modern instructional design frameworks.
• Instructional Technology Integration: liaise with DELTA and campus partners to integrate online instructional technologies.
• Team Supervision: lead and mentor online program staff, fostering a collaborative, service-oriented culture.
• Resource Allocation: oversee funds and allocations to support development and updating of online materials.
• Operations & Facilities: coordinate room assignments, lecture capture setups, and technical infrastructure for online delivery.
• Admissions Point of Contact: advise prospective online students and direct applicants to program advisors.
• Marketing & Recruitment Collaboration: provide input for targeted distance education marketing materials.
