Sapience AI in Seattle is seeking a Head of Neuro-Symbolic AI to own the COGENT architecture, fuse symbolic reasoning with neural models, and build a trustworthy, explainable reasoning platform at the center of MINERVA.

You will lead a specialized team across research, applied AI, and knowledge-graph engineering, balance latency and cost in production, and define how communities get grounded, provable answers.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in neuro-symbolic AI and knowledge representation.
• Experience combining symbolic methods with neural or language-model systems.
• Proven track record turning advanced AI research into working systems.
• Strong grounding in knowledge graphs, retrieval, and modern LLMs.
• Experience leading researchers or engineers, or readiness to lead.
• Rigor about evaluation, groundedness, and handling of uncertainty.
• Ability to translate hard ideas for a broad technical audience.

Responsibilities

• Define the COGENT architecture direction and grounding strategy.
• Lead a team of researchers and engineers to deliver production-ready systems.
• Shape trust, explainability, and provenance in reasoning.
• Set research agenda for neuro-symbolic methods.
