Job summary

Boston Dynamics is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our ML Platform Team. This player-coach role sets technical direction, hands-on contribution, and will scale a team from 4 to 10–12 engineers.

You’ll shape architecture, tackle GPU compute, data pipelines, and shared tooling while collaborating with ML researchers and product teams. You’ll define scalable processes, mentor engineers, and drive cross-functional alignment to deliver reliable platform services.

Qualifications

• 7–12 years of engineering experience with 2–3 years in management or tech lead.
• Experience building or scaling a platform, infrastructure, or ML systems team from scratch.
• Credibility in GPU/distributed compute, data storage/retrieval, or data pipelines.
• Foundational architectural decisions in early-stage or greenfield environments.

Responsibilities

• Own strategy, roadmap, and execution for GPU compute infrastructure at scale.
• Design and operate data storage, indexing, and retrieval for large datasets.
• Develop shared libraries and platform capabilities with ML researchers and engineers.
• Lay architectural foundations and decide on compute orchestration and storage.
• Collaborate with ML, data engineering, and product teams and communicate roadmaps clearly.
• Hire and mentor engineers, define roles, and establish scalable processes.
