Job summary

Saris AI, a San Francisco/Montreal/Toronto based applied AI startup, is seeking an ML Engineering Lead to own and drive the ML/AI function across the company. The role involves defining technical direction, architecting agentic, multi-modal systems, and ensuring scalable, compliant production deployments.

You will mentor a growing ML team, shape evaluation metrics, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver real-world AI workflows with high reliability and impact.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of ML/AI engineering with time as a technical lead or manager
• Proven track record delivering ML initiatives end-to-end from problem definition to production
• Deep experience with LLMs or agentic systems in real-world applications
• Strong ML fundamentals: deep learning, transformers, model evaluation, tradeoffs
• Experience scaling ML systems in production with monitoring and reliability
• Ability to lead engineers, influence architecture, and drive technical direction
• Comfort in early-stage, ambiguous environments with high ownership
• Excellent communication skills to translate ML concepts into decisions

Responsibilities

• Own and lead the ML/AI function end-to-end, setting direction and standards across the company
• Architect and guide the development of multi-modal, agentic AI systems powering real-world workflows
• Define and oversee evaluation frameworks, datasets, and performance metrics to continuously improve agent quality
• Drive productionization of ML systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and compliance in real-world environments
• Build and mentor a high-performing ML team over time, setting best practices across modeling, experimentation, and deployment
