Job description

The Head of Market Access will oversee the strategy and execution of market access initiatives across the organization. This role will focus on driving the adoption and reimbursement of the company’s products, including leading payer marketing, pricing, and contracting strategies. This leader will ensure that products are accessible to patients by achieving coverage across private, government, and Medicaid sectors and will oversee a team responsible for payer account management, reimbursement strategies, and patient advocacy efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the company’s market access strategy to ensure product adoption and optimal reimbursement across payer segments.
  • Drive the payer marketing strategy to achieve coverage for genetic testing panels and other healthcare products.
  • Develop and execute strategies for pricing and contracting to enhance market access.
  • Identify opportunities to expand access to underserved populations and enhance the company’s presence in new markets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key payer stakeholders, including private insurance, Medicaid, and government agencies.
  • Lead initiatives to ensure efficient and timely reimbursement for genetic testing services.
  • Oversee and coordinate payer requirements for clinical trials and product launches.
  • Ensure that pricing and contract negotiations align with market demands and strategic objectives.
  • Expand access to healthcare products through advocacy and collaboration with healthcare systems, focusing on underserved populations.
  • Develop programs that reduce health disparities and increase access to life-saving therapies.
  • Work closely with external stakeholders to implement patient assistance programs that ensure affordability.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to payer access, reimbursement, and market entry.
  • Provide leadership on market access for new product development, working to ensure that clinical trials and evidence generation support payer needs.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including sales, marketing, clinical, and product teams, to ensure alignment on market access strategies.
  • Partner with regulatory, health economics, and outcomes research teams to drive access initiatives.
  • Lead and mentor a team of professionals across payer strategy, pricing, and market access.
  • Build and develop capabilities within the market access team, ensuring a high level of performance and professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, Healthcare Administration, or related field. MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: 15+ years in market access, pricing strategy, or reimbursement, including leadership roles in biopharmaceuticals or genetic testing industries. Proven experience in payer account management and patient advocacy.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in healthcare or market access preferred.

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to develop and execute long-term strategies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to C-suite executives and external partners.
