Job summary

Athena is seeking a Head of InfoSec Operations to lead cybersecurity operations, incident response, and client security assurance. You will own threat detection, vulnerability management, and security tooling, working cross-functionally across IT, Eng, DevOps, Product, Legal, Compliance, Sales, and Customer Success.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong comms, and the ability to communicate security risks clearly to executives and customers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in cybersecurity, information security, or related fields.
• 3-5+ years in security operations leadership or management.
• Hands-on experience with incident response, monitoring, threat detection, and vulnerability management.
• Experience with SIEM, EDR, SOAR, XDR and cloud security tools.
• Experience securing AWS/Azure/GCP environments.
• Strong communication to explain security to exec and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to stay calm and decisive during high-pressure events.
• Experience creating security metrics and executive reports.

Responsibilities

• Lead security operations and incident response, including monitoring, detection, investigation, and remediation.
• Act as incident commander for major cybersecurity events and drive post-incident reviews.
• Own the incident response process, playbooks, escalation, and communications.
• Ensure logging, monitoring, alerting, and visibility across cloud, SaaS, endpoints, and networks.
• Oversee threat detection, hunting, investigations, and forensic activities.
• Develop and track security metrics like MTTD/MTTR and incident timelines.
• Coordinate vulnerability management with engineering, DevOps, IT, and product teams.
• Represent client security in audits, due diligence, and security discussions.
