Job summary

Center on Budget and Policy Priorities in Washington, DC, seeks a Deputy Director of Individual Giving to lead CBPP’s major giving program. You will design strategies to grow gifts from individuals, families, and donor-advised funds, and expand a recurring giving program.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Development Officer, you will manage donor communications, moves management, stewardship, events, and Salesforce-based tracking, collaborating across the development team to advance CBPP’s

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus seven years of experience with prospecting, soliciting, and closing major gifts from individuals.
• Data-driven fundraising best practices and growing individual giving programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills tailored to diverse audiences.
• Commitment to equity and economic justice within CBPP’s policy focus.
• Experience using CRM to manage an individual giving program (Salesforce preferred).
• Experience designing and executing donor events for cultivation and stewardship.
• Ability to collaborate across a large organization and build relationships at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of major gift donors and family foundations, coordinating communications with senior leadership and a multi-channel year-end campaign.
• Develop strategies to increase mission-driven donors and grow mid-level and small-dollar gifts, ensuring program sustainability.
• Lead creation of a recurring giving program and establish a strong donor pipeline.
• Grow major gifts portfolio using moves management and donor research tools.
• Collaborate with colleagues, President’s office, and others on cultivation and stewardship efforts.
• Support events with list creation, outreach, and post-event follow-up.
• Provide weekly reviews of workplans and problem-solving with leadership.
• Use Salesforce to track donor engagement, gifts, and moves.
