Job summary

Short Story is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of HR to lead and scale our HR function across our San Francisco corporate headquarters, South SF Fulfillment Center, and distributed stylist network. Reporting to the CEO, you will own health, compliance, performance infrastructure, and culture with a focus on building scalable processes and alignment across teams.

You will partner with the People Operations Manager and business leaders to strengthen systems that help our teams move quickly,

Qualifications

• Role requires 8+ years of HR experience across diverse, multi-site environments.
• Deep knowledge of California employment law as it applies to hourly, onsite teams.
• Bilingual English & Spanish is a plus and beneficial for our distributed workforce.

Responsibilities

• Own health, compliance, performance infrastructure, and cultural alignment across three sites.
• Build repeatable HR tools and routines for managers on performance, attendance, relations, and communication.
• Oversee HR for South SF warehouse, HQ, and distributed stylist network, including onboarding and day-to-day operations.
