Job summary

The Cigna Group seeks a Vice President of Strategic Intelligence & Market Insights to build and lead an enterprise capability translating market, competitor, and ecosystem signals into strategic action. You will establish modern intelligence infrastructure, leverage advanced analytics and AI, and act as an external advisor to senior leadership and the Board to drive growth and risk mitigation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in strategy, competitive intelligence, market intelligence, business transformation, corporate development, innovation, consulting, venture investing, or related fields.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare ecosystem dynamics, including payer, provider, pharmacy, specialty, technology, regulatory, and adjacent market trends.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and translating market, customer, competitive, technology, and industry insights into enterprise strategy and business action.
  • Proven success influencing executive-level strategic decisions, long-range planning, investment priorities, and growth initiatives.
  • Experience leveraging advanced analytics, data, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies to drive strategic insight generation and decision support.
  • Strong strategic foresight capabilities, including scenario planning, trend analysis, and evaluation of future market and business model evolution.
  • Demonstrated experience building and scaling enterprise capabilities, operating models, and cross-functional partnerships in highly matrixed organizations.
  • Exceptional analytical, synthesis, storytelling, and executive communication skills, with the ability to translate complexity into clear business implications and actionable recommendations.
  • Proven ability to influence across all levels of an organization without direct authority and drive alignment around strategic priorities.
  • Track record of identifying, evaluating, and advancing new growth opportunities, partnerships, investments, or business models.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead an enterprise-wide strategic intelligence capability that provides a comprehensive view of the healthcare ecosystem, including competitive, customer, provider, payer, PBM, specialty, technology, regulatory, and adjacent market dynamics.
  • Identify and interpret emerging market concentration trends, ecosystem shifts, disruptive forces, evolving value pools, and changing competitive dynamics that may impact enterprise strategy and growth.
  • Develop forward-looking perspectives on how healthcare markets, business models, and sources of value creation are evolving and where future opportunities, risks, and competitive advantages are likely to emerge.
  • Serve as the organization's primary source of external insight, helping leaders understand not only what is changing, but why it matters, what it means for the enterprise, and how the organization should respond.
  • Build and maintain a broad network of external relationships across healthcare, technology, venture capital, innovation, academia, provider organizations, and adjacent industries to gather real-world insights, validate emerging trends, and identify opportunities before they become broadly visible in the market.
  • Design and build a modern intelligence ecosystem powered by advanced analytics, data, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies.
  • Integrate internal and external data sources to create scalable capabilities that accelerate signal detection, trend identification, predictive analysis, and strategic decision support.
  • Establish modern tools, operating models, and governance that improve the speed, quality, accessibility, and enterprise adoption of intelligence.
  • Continuously evolve intelligence capabilities to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of strategic sensing, insight generation, and market awareness.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team and Board by translating complex market developments into clear strategic implications and actionable recommendations.
  • Inform enterprise strategy, long-range planning, growth priorities, innovation decisions, partnership opportunities, and capital allocation choices through objective, data-driven insights.
  • Deliver scenario analyses, strategic foresight, and forward-looking assessments that help leadership anticipate change, evaluate alternative futures, and make informed strategic decisions.
  • Challenge conventional thinking by bringing an external perspective into enterprise planning, decision-making, and investment discussions.
  • Identify emerging growth opportunities, unmet customer needs, new business models, and adjacent market opportunities that can drive long-term enterprise value creation.
  • Ensure intelligence is translated into measurable business outcomes by creating strong pull-through mechanisms that connect insights to decisions, investments, innovation, product strategy, and business execution.
  • Build an enterprise learning model that captures external signals, synthesizes implications, and accelerates organizational learning and response.
  • Partner across Strategy, Innovation, Ventures, Product, Technology, and business leadership teams to drive action from intelligence and embed external insight into enterprise processes.
  • Establish a culture in which intelligence is not simply reported, but consistently converted into strategic action, organizational learning, and sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Help the enterprise prioritize opportunities and investments based on market attractiveness, strategic fit, competitive positioning, and long-term value creation potential.
