Job summary

Revalia Bio, Inc. in New Haven, CT (with Indianapolis options) seeks a Head of Hardware to own Orpheus, our perfusion system used in every study.

You will lead design, engineering, manufacturing and assembly, grow the team, mentor engineers and contractors, and report to the CEO as part of the leadership team.

Base salary ranges $190k–$240k USD with meaningful equity and bonus, comprehensive benefits, and travel as needed for early perfusion centers launching in 2027.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering or similar technical field.
• 7+ years designing and building complex electromechanical or fluidic systems, ideally in lab automation or medical device manufacturing.
• 2+ years managing engineers or leading teams/contractors.

Responsibilities

• Own the Orpheus roadmap across design, engineering, manufacturing and assembly.
• Lead design revisions to reduce manual effort and improve data quality, reliability, and repeatability.
• Scale the fleet to meet pharma demand, including build plans, supply chain, sterilization and service capacity.
• Direct design and sourcing of custom components (organ containers, cannulas, sensors, reservoirs, mixing, regulators).
• Manage a small team of engineers and technicians plus external contractors; set priorities and ensure schedule/quality.
