Job summary

Carbon is seeking a Director of Hardware Engineering to lead and grow the Hardware organization in Sunnyvale. You will set technical strategy, expand the team, and partner with Product and Engineering leadership to deliver high-quality solutions on schedule and within cost targets.

The role is hands-on and strategic, reporting to the CTO, with accountability for team development and the engineering output of the organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in hardware or mechanical engineering and 4+ years leading engineers
• Track record delivering complex hardware from concept to production
• Strong depth in hardware disciplines and cross-functional collaboration

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Hardware Engineering organization with clear accountability and continuous improvement
• Coach, mentor, and develop team members and successors
• Define and drive hardware technical strategy aligned with product goals
• Oversee hardware projects end-to-end, balancing schedule, cost, and quality
• Identify improvements to increase engineering velocity and product release speed
• Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to shape vision and ways of working
