Job summary

Nuro is seeking a Head of Operations to lead a team responsible for supporting the development and global rollout of its autonomous driving technology, including six operational functions and a mix of full-time and contractor staff.

You will build scalable processes, define KPIs, travel to sites, partner with Engineering, Policy, and People, and shape a safety-first, data-driven culture that enables expansion to new markets.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in operations or management consulting, with leadership experience.
• Proven track record building and scaling field operations in complex, high-volume environments.
• Experience running 24/7 shift operations across multiple sites and time zones.
• Deep analytical mindset; decisions based on data and clear tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Set strategic direction and own outcomes across all operations, including capacity, cost, quality, and safety.
• Define KPIs for each function and hold the team accountable against them.
• Work with technical leadership to define mileage and data collection programs across R&D, mapping, and production fleets.
• Build and scale the operations organization across multiple domains, geographies, vehicle platforms, and regulatory environments.
• Develop systems and training programs for a distributed, mixed FTE/contractor workforce.
• Travel regularly to operational sites to understand local conditions and opportunities.
• Partner with Engineering, Hardware, Commercial Partnerships, Policy, and People to align priorities with the roadmap.
• Model a safety-first, analytically rigorous culture across the team.
