Job summary

Crop Diagnostix, a venture-backed Ag Tech startup, seeks a VP of Operations to build and lead a scalable genomics operation. You will oversee sequencing, automation, and procurement, while mentoring the Ops Manager and lab team.

The role focuses on tripling throughput yearly with cost control and high-quality data. You should bring 5+ years scaling wet-lab operations, a PhD (preferred), and a track record designing scalable workflows, budgets, and vendor relations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years scaling wet-lab operations in sequencing/biotech.
• PhD in molecular biology or related field preferred.
• Proven ability to increase throughput while preserving quality.
• Experience building lab workflows from scratch is strongly preferred.
• Budgeting, procurement, and vendor negotiation experience.

Responsibilities

• Scale operations to roughly 3x capacity annually while upholding QC and cost discipline.
• Oversee lab operations, including sequencing and automation workflow design.
• Lead capacity planning, inventory, procurement, and sample logistics.
• Define core KPIs for throughput, turnaround time, assay success, and cost per sample.
• Develop staffing plans and mentoring for Ops Manager and lab team.
• Provide an operational roadmap for scaling and risk mitigation.
