Job summary

Intuitive seeks an Engineering Director, Focal Therapies, to lead the strategy, design, and development of robotic platforms and instruments. You will own end-to-end development from concept to launch, directing managers and engineers to meet market, patient, and business needs.

The role requires 15+ years of leadership in medical technology, strong communication with stakeholders, and willingness to travel ~20% with some international travel.

Qualifications

• Experience leading hospital-based medical technology development from concept to launch.
• Proven ability to guide staff and peers in startup medical tech within a larger organization.
• Ability to manage complex programs with multiple sub-teams and stakeholders.
• Strong communication with colleagues, regulators, and customers.
• Leadership of a high-capability technical team; robust problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Set long-term technical product vision aligned with business priorities.
• Direct HW/SW, systems development for multiple programs, including early-stage NPI and test engineering.
• Own and lead multiple product development teams through de-risking, development, and validation.
• Define design verification strategies and ensure integration into system designs.
• Communicate program status to leadership and external collaborators.
• Lead and develop a leadership team within Future Forward Growth Opportunities.
• Coordinate cross-functional execution across projects and manage budgets.
