We’re a fast-growing, founder-led better-for-you food brand on a mission to reinvent the everyday foods people already love: simple ingredients, real nutrition and no compromise on taste.
In a short time we’ve become one of the fastest-growing brands in our category, with national distribution at a major mass retailer, a passionate community, and plans to expand into more major retailers next year.
We’re a small, ambitious team that moves fast and takes ownership. Now we’re bringing on experienced, curious builders to help turn our early momentum into one of the defining food brands of the next generation.
The role
We’re hiring our first finance leader to build the finance function, accounting operations, controls and reporting for a scaling CPG brand. You’ll partner directly with the CEO and COO on cash, capital and strategic decisions.
This is a builder’s role. At first you’ll do the hands-on work yourself (closing the books, reconciling accounts, managing cash) while designing the processes and systems the function will run on, and eventually hiring a team under you.
What you’ll own
- All day-to-day finance and accounting operations (A/P, A/R, month-end close, GL) as the first finance hire
- Building processes and controls from scratch: close calendar, chart of accounts, expense and PO approvals, and reporting cadence
- Cash flow management and forecasting across trade spend timing, co-manufacturing terms and inventory financing
- Cost accounting for co-manufactured product: COGS, inventory, landed cost, and gross and contribution margin by SKU, channel and retailer
- Monthly financials, budget-vs-actual analysis, and board and investor reporting
- Banking relationships and working-capital financing (inventory or receivables lines)
- Trade spend accruals and deduction management (chargebacks, MCB, OI) with sales and retail teams
- Supporting the CEO on fundraising, financial modeling and board prep for future raises
- Selecting and implementing systems (ERP, IMS, trade management, BI, accounting). Confido experience is a plus.
- Multi-state tax compliance
- Building the finance team as the company scales
- Helping scale the business from eight figures to $100M+
Who you are
- A builder. You’ve stood up a finance function, or a major part of one, not just run an existing one.
- Hands-on. There’s no team yet, and you’re excited to do the work before building systems around it.
- Disciplined but fast. You bring strong controls without slowing down a startup.
- CPG fluent. You know trade spend, deductions, co-man cost structures, and inventory and cash cycles.
- Big food plus high growth. Ideally you trained at a large CPG company, then helped scale a successful emerging brand.
- A translator. You turn financials into insights that drive decisions across sales, ops and marketing.
- Founder-ready. You’re comfortable working closely with a small, high-trust leadership team.
- Strategic and tactical. You’re equally at home building a three-statement model and reconciling an A/P invoice.
