Job summary

Muslim Legal Fund of America in Richardson, TX invites a Civil Litigation Director to lead its federal civil litigation portfolio. You will shape strategy, supervise attorneys and staff, and serve as lead counsel on high-impact matters involving constitutional rights, religious freedom, and government accountability.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from ABA-accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar.
• Admission to at least one federal district court and one federal appellate court.
• At least 10 years of progressively responsible litigation experience.
• First-chair or leadership experience in trials, depositions, or appellate work.
• Experience supervising attorneys and leading matter teams.
• Experience overseeing a substantial docket with deadlines and priorities.
• Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral advocacy.
• Ability to build trust and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel for hearings and client meetings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the civil litigation strategy and annual priorities.
• Lead lead-litigation matters and oversee strategy, posture, and resource allocation.
• Supervise attorneys, paralegals, and staff; manage workload and development.
• Ensure ethical standards, client service, and risk management across matters.
• Coordinate with co-counsel, experts, and external partners as needed.
• Represent MLFA with clients, courts, coalitions, and funders.
