Job summary

Werner Enterprises, Inc. in Omaha, NE seeks a General Manager for Facilities Maintenance and Construction to direct construction, facilities, and maintenance operations from development through final inspection.

You will manage vendor contracts, budgets, safety compliance, and coordination with architects, engineers, and trades to ensure on-time, high-quality work that meets codes. This role requires 3–5 years of facilities or construction management experience, and a degree in construction

Qualifications

• Construction Expertise: Strong knowledge of building systems, construction methods, and building codes.
• Project Management: Build schedules, manage budgets, oversee multiple projects.
• Communication: Liaise between consultants, contractors, executives and employees.
• Technical Proficiency: Read technical drawings, plans, and specs.
• Experience: 3-5 years in facilities or construction management.
• Education: Degree in CM/FM/Engineering or significant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Project & Maintenance Execution: Ensure efficiency, timely completion, and quality of construction and maintenance.
• Specialist Collaboration: Work with architects, engineers, electricians, plumbers, and other trades.
• Contractor & Vendor Management: Oversee subcontractors and vendors to meet SLAs.
• Code Compliance & Permitting: Obtain licenses and ensure OSHA/ADA and codes compliance.
• Procurement & Supply Chain: Source parts and materials with Purchasing.
• Emergency Response & Troubleshooting: Respond to delays and downtime to restore operations.
• Reporting & Budget Oversight: Track expenses and report to leadership.
• Technical Communication: Interpret blueprints and service contracts for workers.
