Job summary

KIPP DC is hiring a Director of Facilities Management to lead maintenance across 20+ schools with a $5M+ budget and a team of staff and external vendors.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years in facilities operations, with strong knowledge of building systems and regulatory compliance. The position is based at our Washington, D.C. HDQ, with on-site presence four days per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; minimum 7 years in facilities maintenance or operations
• Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural)
• Experience managing maintenance staff, including hiring, training and evaluation

Responsibilities

• Develop facilities maintenance strategy and ensure regulatory compliance
• Oversee day-to-day maintenance and projects to minimize instructional disruption
• Lead facilities team and manage external vendors and contracts
• Develop and manage a $5M+ maintenance budget with regular reporting
• Ensure safety, environmental compliance and reliable facilities across campuses
