Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Seattle, WA is seeking a Manager, Construction Estimating to lead the AMER Estimating and Cost Control (ECC) organization.

The role is a high-impact people management position overseeing regional estimating managers and technical estimators across multiple disciplines. You will deliver end-to-end cost estimates for data center construction, influence capital governance, and partner with cross-functional teams in Design Engineering, Preconstruction, Finance, and Cost

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a similar technical discipline
• 8+ years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating, cost management, or quantity surveying in commercial, industrial, or infrastructure construction
• 3+ years of people management experience
• Experience with third party vendors
• Demonstrated experience producing conceptual through detailed construction cost estimates for large-scale, complex projects ($500M+)
• Proficiency with cost estimating tools and databases (RSMeans, CostX, Sage/Timberline, databases, Bluebeam, OST)
• Strong analytical skills interpreting drawings, specs, and contracts across multiple disciplines
• Experience with multi-geography pricing in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and develop a team of estimating professionals and vendors across regions and disciplines
• Own delivery of ECC estimating scope areas and work with leadership
• Manage third-party estimating vendor contracts and ensure quality and cost-effectiveness
• Drive the estimate-to-actual feedback loop with Cost Control to improve accuracy
• Lead inputs into annual Operating Plan and budget for capital planning
• Collaborate globally on Basis of Design estimates and cross-functional costing
• Develop and maintain cost databases, estimating tools, templates, and methodologies
• Produce conceptual and detailed estimates for data center construction
